Robin finishes her story and says that while she considers the Straw Hats her friends, she believes that one day, they will no longer be able to protect her from her pursuers. She also fears that the Straw Hats will also betray her like the others did. After Spandam points out that taking in Robin means making the entire world your enemy, Luffy tells Sogeking to shoot the World Government flag. Sogeking uses his Firebird Star to burn the flag, declaring war on the World Government for Robin's sake, much to the shock of those present. Robin, moved by the depth of Luffy's action, cries out that she wants to live and wants to return to the sea with the Straw Hats. The rest of the Straw Hats then prepare to do battle with CP9 and save Robin.

It's a constant struggle between both grammars (translated *from* and translated *to* ) while trying to keep the highest percentage of the meaning knowing full well you'll utterly fail because you've GOT to make sense in your *destination* language; even if it means willingly not translating things and inaccurately translating nuances.
Anyway, Japanese and English being very far apart from one another; all I said above must be even more difficult.
TL;DR : Cut the guy(s) some slack. Making sense in English must have been their priority.

Maybe even afterwords Hancock could join the crew. Nyon did say she'd die an early death if she didn't go off with Luffy, like all of the empresses's that came before her, so maybe that's a thing.

Second, Usopp shot down the flag without a single complaint or some kind of illness (despite, I'm sure, knowing what shooting the Flag meant.) I know he's in Sogeking mindset but he did act as Usopp throughout the whole fight. So I was freaking impressed when he did it with so much style and guts.

I think people don't pay enough attention to this line. This isn't just Luffy's typical "I don't care who it is, I'll take on anyone"-attitude. (That too, but not only.) Luffy witnessed the World Governments cruelty when a Celestial Dragon (appeared to have) killed Sabo. He saw an entire island cowering in fear in front of Marine-Captain Morgan. He saw corruption among government officials, when another captain was bribed by Arlong and payed to do his dirty work. On Drum he saw a King abandoning and later terrorizing his own people. In Arabasta he witnessed how Sir Crocodile, a criminal hired by the government, almost destroyed a country through lies and deception. Shortly before the Water 7 Arc he challenged the overwhelming power of an Admiral when he fought Aokiji.
Luffy may be dumb and goofy most of the time, but in that moment he knew exactly what he was talking about and was prepared to face all the consequences of what he (and his crew) was about to do in the hours that followed.
